“Eurobank Park” opened in Pirot

10th park within the ecology project, adjusted to children with disabilities

Eurobank and the Municipality of Pirot, supported by the “Fenix” Association of Persons with Disabilities, have ceremonially opened the first Inclusive Park in Pirot and Southeast Serbia, which is the tenth park within the comprehensive ecology project titled ''Eurobank Parks''. This is the second inclusive park in Serbia whose construction is initiated by Eurobank, in a humanitarian effort to strongly support social inclusion of children with disabilities.

“All children have the equal right to play, and we in Eurobank strive to enable them with an opportunity to exercise that right in the best possible manner, by playing in a safe environment adjusted to them. Guided by philanthropic values, with huge enthusiasm for revitalising parks across Serbia, we have so far invested nearly EUR1 million and breathed fresh air into the lungs of Serbia,“ said Maja Đorđević Stanković, Manager of Eurobank branch in Pirot.

The President of the Municipality of Pirot, Vladan Vasić, and Maja Đorđević Stanković from Eurobank have provided an example of environmental awareness and contributed to the greenery of the Inclusive Park by planting sweet chestnut, a symbol of wellbeing and longevity.

“Our city has received an exceptional gift from Eurobank – the first inclusive park in Pirot and the entire region of East Serbia, which will provide equal opportunities for playing to all children. Their happiness is an indicator of our success and when we contribute to children’s smiles in this manner, we can be sure that we did a great thing for the future of the entire community,“ said Vladan Vasić, President of the Municipality of Pirot.

Since 2006, Eurobanka has been actively engaged in the area of ecology and has invested nearly EUR1 million in the revitalisation of parks across Serbia. The Inclusive Park in Pirot is the second park in our country equipped with park furniture and gymnastics devices adjusted to needs of children with disabilities. Playing on these devices helps children get included in regular social life and has a positive effect on their psychological, physical and motoric development.

With support of Eurobank, the parks reconstructed so far include the Public Garden in Pančevo, European Garden in the “Jevremovac” Botanical Garden in Belgrade, Park of the Teachers’ Training Faculty in Jagodina, Danube Park in Novi Sad, Čair Park in Niš, Sunny Park in Požarevac, Weddings Park at Ada Ciganlija in Belgrade, Inclusive Rainbow Park at Bežanijska kosa in New Belgrade, and the park in Vrnjačka Banja. The “Eurobank Parks“ project is part of the comprehensive CSR program of Eurobank, “We invest in European values”, where more than EUR3.6 million has been invested in the development of local community.
