Belgrade, January 20, 2014 – Eurobank has won the VIRTUS Award for contribution to the local community for the “Big Heart” project, upon a proposal of its partner, the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation.
This award represents recognition of Eurobank’s long-term investments in the development of the local community.
“It is a great honor to win this award for the fourth time, and the fact that in four years of the Big Heart project we have made 8,000 children from 20 kindergartens across Serbia happy makes this award even more precious. Eurobank’s strategic focus is on investment into corporate philanthropy and, together with the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation, we have managed to initiate and maintain the project which best reflects our objectives. Last year the project was joined by publishing company Laguna with more than 4,500 books for kindergarten libraries and thus we have managed to provide children with an insight into the world of imagination in the best possible manner – via playing and reading. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Eurobank clients, who have helped the sustainability of this project by using the Big Heart card,” says Željka Ćirić Jakovljević, Corporate Communications Manager of Eurobank.
The VIRTUS Award for contribution to the local community where the company operates is granted for exceptional results achieved in helping resolve problems or needs of the community, city, or region where the company operates. The Trace Foundation, in cooperation with the European Union and the Team for Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, has granted this prestigious award to Eurobank, which already won the VIRTUS award in several categories in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Eurobank has been integrating corporate social responsibility in its identity since its establishment.
