The ORL Ward at the Institute for Mother and Child Renovated
The ORL Ward at the Institute for Mother and Child’s Healthcare “Dr Vukan Čupić” has been renovated, owing to the “Big Heart” project, implemented by Eurobank and the “Ana and Vlade Divac” Foundation for six years now. After more than 15 years since the last reconstruction, this ward now has new beds, completely new kitchen with a dining room and children’s playroom. The value of the donation is around EUR15,000.
The Director of the Institute for Mother and Child, Dr Radoje Simić, has said that the renovation of the ORL Ward was a “burning issue” in this institution, which has been taking care of children of all ages – from prematurely born babies to school children, for sixty years now. “The Institute is the largest children’s hospital in the region, with 220,000 medical exams and around eight thousand surgeries performed annually. ORL is the largest ward at the Institute, with more than two thousand children hospitalised there. The admittance frequency of sick children and their mothers is high, and therefore it was necessary to replace beds and reconstruct the kitchen, dining room and children’s playroom. I would like to thank Eurobank and the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation for having recognised efforts and commitment of our MDs,” said Dr Radoje Simić.
“After 35 kindergartens across Serbia, it is my pleasure that we have had an opportunity to help the healthcare institution for the youngest as well, owing to humanity of more than 22 thousand users of our card. By renovating this ward and procuring new equipment, we wished to make time that children spend in this hospital pass as quickly as possible. The visit to the Institute has ensured me that this institution is one of the leading institutions for children’s treatments for a reason and that better working conditions for MDs are the biggest reward for their dedication,” said Dušan Mihailović, a member of the Executive Board of Eurobank.
This year, the humanitarian “Big Heart” project is celebrating its sixth anniversary. Since its establishment, 35 kindergartens and primary schools across Serbia have been reconstructed, and this is the first healthcare institution renovated with funds provided from this project.
“We are initiators of numerous humanitarian projects, with “Big Heart” being among the most prominent ones. We are proud of its continuity, diversity of kindergartens and schools, joy it has provided for more than 15 thousand children and, above all, commitment of Eurobank card users,” said Snežana Divac, the founder and the President of the “Ana and Vlade Divac’ Foundation.
