“Big Heart” Humanitarian Project

15 September 2016.

Pupils of the oldest school in Niš, the “Učitelj Tasa”, now have better conditions for spending time at school. Owing to the “Big Heart” project jointly implemented by Eurobank and the Ana&Vlade Divac Foundation, all school toilets that were in rather bad condition have been renovated and are now used by more than 1,000 pupils. The value of this donation is cca RSD2 million.
The host of the event, the School Principal Radmila Krstić underlined that this 186-year old school in the centre of Niš was named after the first Serbian teacher and has contributed to the education of a number of successful students' generations. „For almost two centuries, we have been nurturing the scholarly tradition and the high quality of education. This renovation will certainly improve the quality of time spent by the pupils in the school. We would like to thank Eurobank and Ana&Vlade Divac Foundation for including us into their big heart family.“
Niš Mayor Darko Bulatović visited the school on this occasion. “The “Učitelj Tasa“ school is a significant landmark of the City of Niš, primarily due to the quality of education. The most important acknowledgment of the City of Niš, the “11. januar“ was on several occasions delivered to this school as a confirmation of excellent achievements in education. I believe that this renovation will help their further progress,” the Mayor underlined.
The funds for this donation have been provided owing to more than 22,000 Eurobank clients, Big Heart affinity card users.
“Each new school or a kindergarten, 37 of them, is yet another confirmation that we are on the right track to create better conditions for growing up and education in kindergartens and schools in Serbia. This is also a major acknowledgment for Eurobank's clients who have enabled the “Big Heart” to reach kindergartens and schools that need help in the shortest possible time. Thank you for your recognition of the importance this project has for the entire society for six years now,” said Eurobank Executive Council President Slavica Pavlović.
During six years, within the “Big Heart” humanitarian project, 37 kindergartens and elementary schools across Serbia have been renovated and the last in line was an important donation for the reconstruction of the ORL Ward with the Institute for Mother and Child in Belgrade.

“We are proud of the fact that the “Big Heart” is one of the longest-running projects we implement together with our partners from Eurobank. During these six years, we have brought joy to the lives of more than 15,000 children across Serbia and enabled them better conditions to play and study. It is a pleasure to see once again so many talented and smiling children and, on this occasion, I wish them a happy continuation of their education,“ said Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation BoD Director Ana Divac.

The card with a big heart – “Big Heart” MasterCard card – is a standard credit card, but its ultimate purpose is focused on improving conditions for more carefree growing up of children in Serbia. Retail clients who opt for this card bear no additional costs, while contributing to an important humanitarian cause by using it – reconstruction of schools and playgrounds and establishment of libraries in pre-school and school institutions across Serbia.
